Crown and Country

There she is… Miss America! Miss America 2009, Kate Stam, was in town to help fundraise for the Miss DC Scholarship Program Sunday evening. In a special program at the Embassy of Uzbekistan, Katie, Jen Corey, Miss DC 2009, and five Miss DCs (of previous years) hosted guests while Jen and Katie treated them to their royal voices – both are trained in opera.

In fact, the Washington National Opera had a huge part in making the evening a success. WNO’s Neil Alpert served as event host and sponsor along with Ambassador H.E. Abdulaziz Kamilov and his wife.

Guests included Miss DC’s Outstanding Teen, Hope Wiseman (pictured above with Morgan Ortagus), Robert York (at left with Miss America), Leslie Sanchez, and Art McMaster, President of the Miss America Board of Directors.
