“One Thousand Words,” Fashion at the Turkish Embassy

Wednesday night, politicos and trend setters donned their best to gather at the Turkish Ambassador’s residence for a night of glamour and fashion.

The Ambassador and Mrs. Namik Tan hosted an invitation-only group of guests in their “residence room” for a runway fashion show by Turkish designer Nedret Taciroglu.  ”Ms. Taciroglu’s creations are inspired by clothing worn during the Ottoman Empire and acted as an important geographical, cultural, political and social bridge between the East and the West,” Ambassador Tan explained. “Her collections reflect the historical heritage left by the Ottoman Empire to modern day Turkey.”

The Ambassador also welcomed prominent guests from around the region, including Hunter and Kathleen Biden, Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, Congressman Ed Whitfield and his wife Connie, Douglas Glanser, the Attorney General of Maryland, several members from the State Department and Ambassadors from Costa Rica, Singapore, Cape Verde, Bahrain, and Bulgaria. Also attending were former Congressman Greg Laughlin and Stacie Scott Turner, from the Real Housewives of D.C

Nedret Taciroglu has gained attention in the U.S hosting shows in NYC, Paris, Milan, and Washington, DC.  Her loyal clientele numbers in the thousands around the world and she was proud to create an 18-piece collection for former First Lady Nancy Reagan.
